I get so excited for Fanged Fridays, ya'll. I'm not even kidding. I start thinking about it on Saturday, weighing my options and google image searching for vampire porn flattering pictures of the cinematic undead.

(To everyone except Hubs. He just runs his hands exasperatedly through his hair and goes "MORE vampire shit? Really?")

This week's Fanged Friday feature is Paul Wesley, better known as Stefan Salvatore from the new CW show "The Vampire Diaries".
Stefan is the typical tortured soul vampire, complete with perfect abs, chip on his shoulder, and God-complex. Me likey.
I wasn't sure how I felt about this show at first. I mean, it shadows Twilight a bit closely at times, and can be a little hokey with the foggy special effects and the crows and whatnot. I laughed out loud a few times during the series premiere, but in the end, was won over by the abundance of man candy.
(Hubs was disgusted.)
(And expressed his distaste by snoring extra loudly.)
(Which meant I had to turn up the volume a bit to catch Stefan's brooding mumbling. Crisis averted.)
Plus, who wouldn't be excited about a weekly Twilight-esque mini saga? I'll take what I can get. This is a girl who knows never to look a gift vampire in the fangs, yo.

Ever hesitant to enter the realm of the CW, especially for a show about teen-aged girls with affection for Vampires... I was hooked after the first episode. :)

LoL! I wasn't impressed very much by the premiere either. I do however watch the show because I love vampires and it feeds my fix until New Moon and season 3 of True Blood comes out... :)
I will definitely have to check this show out sometime.
Finally, someone who chose Stefan before Damon...
I love Twilight, I really do. But the similarities between some other stories are making me really question her credibility. It's almost like she had that dream, but had to steal ideas from other stories for the rest of it. (Vampire Diaries was written in '91).
The similarities between Twilight and Vampire Diaries, and Twilight and The Sookie Stackhouse Novels are just too much to be coincidence. It goes far beyond the vampire theme.
With that being said, even if she did borrow ideas for Twilight, I still bow to her for The Host. It was amazing.
You know whats funny? The woman who wrote the vampire diaries series wrote it in 1991, well before twilight. Everyone thinks she copied stephenie meyer when really it was the other way around.
He is super hot. Haven't watched the show, but if I need some man candy in my life will definitely tune in!

I just purchased the books. The show has won me over, but I love reading so I decided to take the leap of faith and read the books.
Yea so my TiVO effed up last night for some reason and didn't tape Vampire Diaries... sadface. But I agree with you- sometimes it seems to really mirror Twilight and it amuses me because while imitation is the highest form of flattery... nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, can measure up to Twilight. Oh wait. I mean New Moon and Eclipse because they will be way better with Cathy NOT directing them

At first, I was all for Stephan, but like with Twilight when I went Team James, I'm starting to dig Damon, and now realize I may have a bad boy complex!! Man-candy all around, it's really a win-win situation!
His brother Damon isn't so bad either! What a bad boy fanged hottie! I especially liked when he was actually reading a page from the Twilight series and totally dis'ed it! I was on the floor!

I haven't heard of this show before, but I think I might have to check it out. It'll be one of my many guilty pleasure shows to watch while Match is at the fire house. Man candy here I come! :-)
So this post and the topic 'Fanged Fridays' makes me so incredibly happy. I've been on a vampire reading/watching kick since last fall, and I cannot seem to shake it! So it makes me happy to know I'm not the only one. And my boy? Completely disgusted by all of this vampire stuff, too...
Agree with anonymous, anyone saying this copied Twilight should be kicked..I can see why some scenes are similar though, but come on! The book was way earlier.
